Station 4 to Open by January

It looks like we’ll have to wait about seven months for Station 4 to open, the new 4,000 square foot sit-down restaurant to be located at Waterfront Station. According to proprietor Med Lahlou, there will be enough seating for about 200 diners, including an outdoor patio and private room for events. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, as well as serve brunch on weekends. Station 4 will be in the southeast corner of the 1101 4th Street office building, next to Z-Burger.

Sad! Why so long a wait?? Was really hoping it would open by fall, in time to enjoy some nice patio dining weather!

While you're waiting - a few blocks north, and just off 4th Street, a new eating venue called "Sal's Cafe" has just opened at 400 C Street S.W. with mediterranean fare, pasta, pizza, etc. (with counter seating along the wall and window). While catering mostly to the Office and hotel (Holiday Inn) crowd (I assume), it stays open a little later than many nearby places (till 8 on weekdays) and is open on weekends. They also sell Krispy Kreme donuts!

When walking along 4th Street, just south of "C" I've noticed a largely empty space just south of the entrance to the office building (on the other side of the entrance from the McDonald"s), that look's like it could be ideal for a retail establishment. In the past it was filled with a lot of boxes and junk, but lately it has been cleared out. Are there any plans to put a retail establishment here, or if not, how might one go about suggesting it?

Thanks for the update about Sal's Cafe, anonymous @ 8:50pm! How is the food? I'm not aware of anything opening at the other location mentioned by Anonymous @ 8:58pm, so I'll do some sleuthing to see what's going on over there.

This is Anonymous 8:50pm. I've only been there three times (now) but their beef shawarma and linguine with meat sauce and garlic bread have been great!

What are the latest developments with regard to Z Burger and Station 4? Have they announced official opening dates or updated opening timeframes?
