Food Cart Arrives at Waterfront Station

Thanks to a tip from reader Andrew, I can report that a food cart has been set up at the corner of 4th & M Street, which should provide a quick bite to eat for office workers at Waterfront Station. I haven't had a chance to go by the intersection yet, so can someone tell me if the food cart is one of those green vehicles, or is it a traditional metal cart that you would find near the National Mall? I noticed a few weeks ago another food cart has been placed in front of Constitution Center during working hours. As was mentioned last week, a Subway will open at Waterfront Station by the end of July.

Seemed to be a traditional small metal cart selling hotdogs.

all of this wait and we end up with a hot dog cart and a subway. that's disappointing.

the cart may not have a permit for that location if there wasn't one there before 2007, when all of the dc vending carts were grand-fathered in. But I guess something there is better than nothing?

A Dollar Store can't be far behind.

As much as I'm disappointed about the Subway, I actually think the food cart is kind of a quaint addition. The food is terrible, admittedly, but I think it's kind of like a harbinger of foot traffic. Those carts only appear in places where people walk around - and that's what I like seeing in the area.

Plus, what visually encourages people to go out and walk around is interesting things happening on the street. Street merchants are a part of that.
